Welcome
To West
Pennine
Slings!

At West Pennine Slings, our mission is to build a warm, supportive babywearing community. We aim to make babywearing simple and accessible, helping parents and caregivers build strong, loving attachments with their little ones.

What We Offer

Whether you are brand new to babywearing‍ ‍or a seasoned pro,
everyone is welcome here! Here is how we can help:

SLING LIBRARY, PLAYGROUPS & WALKS

Come along to our regular groups to try out carriers, hire from our extensive library, or get hands-on support from trained volunteers. You don't need to hire anything to join, many parents drop in just to chat and connect with others!

WE PROVIDE EXPERT GUIDANCE

All of our friendly volunteers are trained consultants or advocates. We can help answer your questions, demonstrate carrying techniques, help you find the right carrier from our collection, or assist with slings you already own.

WE PROVIDE PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS

Private Consultations: Prefer a quieter, 1 to 1 setting? We offer personal consultations to help you find the perfect fit, tailored for newborns, twins, or extra support needs.

WE PROVIDE TRAINING & TALKS

Training & Talks: We offer educational presentations for both parents and healthcare professionals to raise awareness about the wonderful physical and emotional benefits of babywearing.

Our Journey

Founded in March 2012 (originally as Blackburn with Darwen Sling Library), we registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in March 2014. Becoming a non-profit CIC reflected our deep commitment to serving local families and promoting healthy attachment between caregivers and children.

As pioneer researchers John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth noted, “Attachment is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across time and space.” We believe that giving families the tools and confidence to carry their babies is a lasting investment in a brighter, more connected community.

We look forward to welcoming you and your little ones to our community!
